To plan, obtain seed in quantity, lay out and create, continually care for and maintain, then distribute harvest from a Community Victory Garden is a monstrous undertaking.

It is not a task for "Sunshine Patriots" and the responsibilities cannot fall upon the shoulders of a few individuals who end up not tending to their own "home fires" in order to work more than full time in order to salvage a few things from a failing unsupported effort.

Those associated with this proposal historically over-produce and shared their excess bounty.  Perhaps the effort is better served if existing gardeners over-produce at home and assist their neighbors this season or distribute at the farmer's market.

Assistance is not limited to playing in the mud, virtually all of us can assist in some way.  We seek advice and guidance from our elders, for shut-ins and our endangered population - the ability to make phone calls, answer e-mails and schedule volunteers allows others more able to do manual labor make more meaningful use of their time to directly work in the Victory Garden.

Let us maintain and build upon the notion that Orangeville, Illinois still is the best little town to live in.
